An 11 year old girl was diagnosed with a brain tumour which her mother believes was "dislodged" by a rollercoaster at Thorpe Park, triggering symptoms.
Connie Campbell, now aged 13, experienced sickness and headaches following a family trip to the Surrey amusement park. Her mother, Tina Smith, 54, believes the onset of these symptoms was caused by the violent jolts of the ride, which potentially shifted the tumour in Connie's brain, luckily revealing the grade-four cancer before it could spread to her spine.
After enduring surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy which caused her to miss a year of school, Connie is now on the road to recovery.
In a show of immense determination and to aid fundraising efforts for Brain Tumour Research, Tina plans to run a marathon. Tina said: "There’s a difference between getting thrown around a bit for fun and having your head ricochet so hard you don’t feel right after.
