A person was 'taken to a place of safety' by emergency crews at a Greater Manchester train station earlier today. Police, paramedics and fire crews descended on Hag Fold train station in Atherton to a 'report of a casualty on the tracks' at around 7am this morning (Monday).
The train lines between Wigan Wallgate/Wigan North Western and Salford Crescent were blocked as the emergency services responded to the incident.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said a 'person was found with injuries'. They were 'taken to a place of safety to receive medical care'. Train services between Manchester Piccadilly and Wigan were cancelled earlier as the lines were blocked, with disruption on Northern services until around 10am.
