MTV star dead aged 66 following long kidney disease battle

Singled Out star Randal Malone has sadly passed away at the age of 66 after a long fight with kidney disease.The actor, known for his roles in numerous low-budget films and as a 'film star' on the iconic 90s MTV dating game show, died at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, following a lengthy battle with kidney disease.

Born in Kentucky in 1958, Randal's interest in showbiz was sparked when his father, a car racer, introduced him to Marty Robins and Patsy Cline during their racetrack visits.

After earning a bachelor's degree in theatre from Murray State University, he made the move to LA and was even named the 'Most Promising Actor in Hollywood' by the Southern California Motion Picture Council - a non-profit organisation that he had been leading as president since 2004.

Randal also gained recognition for his role as Gaylord in the 1996 film Sunset After Dark, alongside Margaret O'Brien and Anita Page.

Interpol are back at work in the studio according to a new report, and drummer Sam Fogarino is getting back to playing following his recovery from spinal surgery.Fogarino was forced to sit out the band’s 2024 ‘Antics’ 20th anniversary UK and European tour following his operation.“As you may know,” he wrote on social media, “last year, I had to undergo spinal surgery, which resulted in me having to miss Interpol tour dates.”He continued: “While the surgery and recovery has been successful, thus far, unfortunately I’m dealing with continued health issues – and will have to stay off the road for the time being.”Now, according to a new report from his reps (as per Rolling Stone), his recovery is progressing well.The band’s reps said Fogarino was “recovering from his back surgery, getting back to drumming as seen on his IG, and working closely with the rest of the band and Matador on ‘Antics’ assets”They also went on to reveal that he was “writing with the other band members for the next album”, which will follow on from 2022’s ‘The Other Side Of Make-Believe’.A post shared by Samuel Fogarino (@fogonthefloor)The indie veterans have announced plans to play their second LP in full across the UK in November, including stops in Manchester, Glasgow, London and more.Now, they will wrap up their anniversary shows at Dublin’s 3Arena on November 10.
