Popular TikTok star dies aged 34 in hospital from dengue fever complications

TikTok star Jainer Moises Pinedo Vargas, known as the Dancing Engineer, tragically died on Sunday, August 18, due to complications from dengue fever.The Peruvian influencer, who shot to fame in 2021 with his choreography for the song No se by Explosion de Iquitos, was just 34 years old.

Jainer, from Iquitos, Peru, had a following of nearly 28k fans on TikTok who were left devastated by his sudden death. It's thought that he contracted the mosquito-borne viral infection while travelling in Condorcanqui Province, Peru, about two weeks prior.

Dengue fever is prevalent in certain regions globally, including parts of Africa, Asia, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific islands.

His health took a turn for the worse after developing pneumonia and he was subsequently hospitalised in Bagua. Doctors discovered fluid around his lungs and he was moved to a larger facility in Chiclayo for treatment.
