Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has confirmed he has been banned from daily government briefings and press conferences. The Good Morning Britain host has clashed fiercely with a number of MPs on the show during the coronavirus pandemic, over things including testing and social distancing rules.

Piers has been holding government ministers to account over apparent mistakes and miscalls of judgment regarding the handling of COVID-19 in the UK.

From the failure to protect those in care homes to testing targets not being met, Piers faced division from GMB viewers over his interviews with MPs recently.

Last month, he claimed ministers were boycotting the show as a result, with many refusing to appear despite doing other press.
