In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has taken a swipe at Dominic Cummings on Twitter after he was widely criticised for travelling during the coronavirus pandemic.

Boris Johnson's senior adviser was widely criticised for driving over 250 miles from London to his parents' house in Durham.

He sparked outrage after making the journey with his wife who showed coronavirus symptoms. Piers shared a photograph of Cummings with his 7.5m, captioning the snap: "As I keep saying, Cummings is toast. "Only question is how much more damage he does to gutless @BorisJohnson and pathetically cowardly cabinet ministers before he goes." Piers' jibe comes after he branded Boris Johnson a "disgrace" during yesterday's briefing.
