What is Kawasaki disease? Rare children's disease linked to coronavirus

Coronavirus, or Covid-19, was first discovered in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Since then it has spread across the globe, and now more than 34,000 people have died with it in the UK.

But now another mysterious and rare disease has hit headlines.. Last month concerns were raised after hospitals admitted a number of children to intensive care units with symptoms resembling toxic shock syndrome, as well as an inflammatory disorder known as Kawasaki disease.

Since then hundreds of similar cases have been reported over the world, and it is believed to be linked to Covid-19. Many doctors believe the disease is caused by the immune system overreacting to coronavirus.
