90210 star Shannen Doherty has passed away aged 53 following a lengthy battle with cancer.The actress' death was confirmed by her publicist on 13 July in a sad statement. "It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty.

On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. "The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie.The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace," the emotional statement read.

Shannen was best known for portraying Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210, from 1990 to 1994. She then left the show in 1994, before making a guest appearance in 2008 in the reboot.

She also starred in Charmed as Prue Halliwell, as well as films such as Fortress, Heathers and Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
