BBC star dies after short cancer battle as co-stars pay emotional tribute

BBC star Peter Grant has sadly passed away after a short illness with cancer. His long-time Radio Newcastle and Tees colleague Simon Logan confirmed the sad news to fans via a Facebook statement on Monday, which read: "So very difficult to post that we have lost another radio legend and my great friend of 25 years." Simon continued with a touching tribute: "Peter Grant was a wonderful and talented person known for presenting radio and TV shows on many different platforms.

RIP Peter, you fought a brave battle and will always be remembered especially for being kind, generous and so positive all the time.Thanks for the laughs and the great times Peter, everyone who knew you will miss you always." Further tributes poured in from across the airwaves, including one from former BBC Radio Newcastle broadcaster Alfie Joey, who shared his sadness on Facebook: "Well this is sad.

An old friend of mine from radioland has died." Alfie reminisced further: "Peter Grant was great company and relentlessly positive.

Even when he was given his cancer diagnosis last year he said he wasn't going to dwell on the negatives." He added: "What an amazing outlook to have and to learn from.Thoughts and love to his wife Sarah-Jane and family.
