Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Ben Shephard wished his Good Morning Britain co-star Kate Garraway happy birthday as she his forced to spend the day away from her "critically ill" husband Derek.

The 45-year-old gave Kate a shout-out as he replaced Piers Morgan on the ITV show today. He said: "I wanna say happy birthday to Kate, who turns 40-13 today." Susanna Reid added: "She doesn't look a day over 25." Ben joked: "No, after a lot of make up." But he continued more somberly: "She is with her family and keeping everything crossed, obviously, because Derek is still critically ill but we just want to say happy birthday, Kate, however you can celebrate today. "I'm sure that Darcey and Billy have got a cake or something, but we're sending lots and lots of love." Susanna
