Brits could face regional lockdowns and a new wave of restrictions after the country is reopened if coronavirus cases spike locally.

The strict measures could be imposed in a desperate bid to avoid a new deadly Covid-19 wave. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce a lockdown exit plan in an address on Sunday.

It is understood some rules will be relaxed and that firms could reduce social distancing at work if the get PPE. TUC boss Frances O’Grady slammed the move as an “open goal” and that some bosses could cut corners instead.

But, while the UK could finally be approaching the end of the first stage of the lockdown – it is understood regions could face localised restrictions if there is another outbreak in the area.
