Aaron Lazar is making his first major public appearance since the announcement of his ALS diagnosis. The 47-year-old Broadway actor was joined by his wife LeAnn on the red carpet at the 2024 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 16) at the David H.
Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. Aaron announced his ALS diagnosis in January 2024 and revealed he had been fighting the disease for the past two years.
In a new interview, he explained why he’s not going to fight the disease. “When I got diagnosed, I thought, ‘Well, my new impossible dream is to beat this,’” Aaron said on The Broadway Show with Tamsen Fadal podcast last week.
He’s referencing the song “The Impossible Dream” from the musical The Man of La Mancha. “And then I realized, ‘There’s nothing to beat.’ It’s not a fight,” he added. “I don’t want to meet this with any kind of resistance.
