Care minister Helen Whately admitted she doesn’t know how many healthcare workers have died from coronavirus. During a Good Morning Britain interview, Piers Morgan pressed her over the exact number of frontline deaths from COVID-19.
And while Ms Whately was keen to offer up the specific number of NHS staff who have died from the virus, she was very hesitant over the total amount, including care workers, before admitting there is no answer to the question. “We don’t have a figure for that,” she said.
It comes after the Manchester Evening News reported about the stark estimates that have been made about the true figure of care home residents who have died - a minister said 1,000, a charity 2,500, and a body representing providers as many as
