Coronavirus causing up to 50 million pints to go to waste as UK's pubs stay shut

Up to 50 million pints-worth of beer could have to be thrown away if the UK's coronavirus lockdown continues for several months, industry experts have warned.

The UK's pubs and bars were ordered to shut on March 20 as Prime Minister Boris Johnson enforced strict social distancing measures designed to tackle the crisis.

But now, there are fears that the crisis could have disastrous long-term effects for the nation's pubs and breweries. The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) has estimated that the equivalent of up to 50 million pints is going to waste.
