Elton John has expanded on the current status of his health, following a “severe eye infection”, at a public appearance, admitting: “I have lost my eyesight”.In September, the legendary singer-songwriter revealed that he had been dealing with the infection over the summer that left him with “only limited vision in one eye”.“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” he continued.Last week (November 26), John gave an update on his condition, revealing that it has been “four months now” since he’s been unable to see properly. “And my left eye is not the greatest,” he stated, adding that it has resulted in him feeling “stuck” while working on a new album.Now, at a gala performance for The Devil Wears Prada, a musical adaptation of the novel and 2005 film of the same name, John revealed to the audience that he has now lost his eyesight.
John worked on the music for the production.“I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight,” he said onstage, per The Guardian, while accompanied by husband David Furnish. “So it’s hard for me to see it.
But I love to hear it and boy it sounded good tonight.”John previously said of his condition to Good Morning America: “We’re taking an initiative to try and get it better.
But at the moment, that’s really what we’re concentrating on. It’s never fortunate for anything like this to happen. And it kind of floored me, and I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”Despite these recent struggles, John said he was “the luckiest man in the world” and explained that he was “so proud of the documentary” Elton John: Never Too Late, which is coming to.
