Emergency services descend on fireplace shop after blaze breaks out with cordon in place

Fire crews were called to a blaze that broke out at a shop in Bury in the early hours of this morning (Friday). Four fire engines rushed to the scene of the blaze at The Fireplace Shop on Bury Old Road, near Heaton Park just after 1.40am.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show The Fireplace shop behind a cordon with broken glass strewn over the pavement. In the images the shop appears burned with significant smoke damage and a front window looks to be smashed. READ MORE: A knock at the door and 20 years of his life were taken A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 1:40am this morning (Friday 7th June) firefighters were called to reports of a fire involving a commercial building on Bury Old Road, Manchester. “Four fire engines from Whitefield, Broughton, Agecroft and Manchester Central fire stations arrived quickly and used two hose reels to extinguish the flames.
