Pubs and restaurants may be able to reopen sooner than previously thought, after it was revealed that Boris Johnson has asked for a review of the two metre social distancing rule.
The current government guidance means that bars and restaurants are not be permitted to reopen until at least July 4. The pub industry has warned that two thirds of jobs in the sector could be lost if the distance is not reduced to one metre - the current distance advised by the World Health Organisation.
Speaking at the Commons Liaison Committee yesterday, the Prime Minister told MPs that scientists had been told to review the guidance, in the hopes that the distance could be reduced.
