Holidaygoers risk facing 1km-long lines when they arrive at airports as post-lockdown social distancing won’t work, the boss of Heathrow has warned.
John Holland-Kaye called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to “take the lead” in agreeing on a common international standard for health in air travel in order to “save jobs”.
In a Daily Telegraph column, he added: “Forget social distancing – it won’t work in aviation or any other form of public transport, and the problem is not the plane, it is the lack of space in the airport. “Just one jumbo jet would require a queue a kilometre long.” While the CEO said social distancing at airports would be impractical, he said “package of measures” similar to those in Asia following the 00s Sars crisis
