Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Line of Duty creator says show needs to turn to Piers Morgan for next series

Jed Mercurio, the creator of Line of Duty, has unexpectedly turned to Piers Morgan for inspiration for the sixth series of the hit BBC drama.

On Wednesday's episode of Good Morning Britain, the acid-tongued presenter called out Care Minister Helen Whately for the lack of coronavirus testing.

Impressed with Piers' attitude on the matter, the writer thought Line of Duty's fan-favourite character Ted Hastings could do with some of the TV host's ballsy approach.

He quote tweeted the video of Piers giving Helen a dressing down, and wrote: "If Emily Maitlis was channelling Kate Fleming, then in Line of Duty 6 Ted Hastings needs to channel Piers Morgan." During the clip, the 58-year-old slammed the government for testing less people in the UK
