Man, 81, accused of killing wife, daughter with ax

Reginald Maclaren was arrested and is facing a first-degree murder charge. He contacted the Englewood Police Department in Colorado to inform the agency that his wife and adult daughter were murdered. Maclaren told authorities he believed he knew the suspect and a hammer was used in the attack, according to a release from Englewood police. Officers arrived at the scene and found Maclaren inside the apartment. While in the home, police found two people in large trash cans on the floor of the living room/kitchen area.Police said both women had substantial injuries and had died. Englewood police noted during their investigation they determined Maclaren’s wife and daughter were murdered with the ax, and one victim was dismembered with a saw. The victims were identified in an arrest affidavit as 70-year-old Bethany Maclaren and 35-year-old Ruth Jennifer Maclaren, The Denver Post noted. Citing the arrest affidavit, The Denver Post reported Maclaren told investigators that he recently lost his job at which he worked with people who are homeless.

2 faculty members shot at Denver high school, police say

DENVER - Two school administrators were shot at a Denver high school Wednesday morning after a gun was found during a search of a student, authorities said.The juvenile suspect remained at large and the gun was not immediately recovered following the shooting at East High School at about 10 a.m., the Denver Police Department said.One of the administrators was critically injured and the second was in stable condition, Police Chief Ron Thomas said.The victims were taken to area hospitals.A shooting erupted at a Colorado high school on March 22 where so far two adult victims were found, and the unidentified suspect remains on the run, police said. East High School, not far from downtown near a busy street that cuts through the city, was placed on lockdown as police investigated the shooting.It was unclear if the shooting happened inside or outside the school. Denver Public School confirmed the victims were faculty members.Earlier this month students from the school skipped class and and marched to Colorado’s state Capitol to demand stricter gun laws, following the death of a fellow student who was shot while sitting in a car near school.This is a developing story. BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. - County leaders in Colorado said they mistakenly sent $238,000 to hackers after one of its vendors experienced a cyberattack. Boulder County said on its website that after its vendor was hacked, a spearfishing e-mail was sent to the county. Thinking it was the vendor itself, the county sent the check. However, it turned out the money was sent to a fraudulent account. Colorado shows the harrowing moment a train crashed into a police car that had a woman handcuffed inside.The Fort Lupton Police Department shared video of the incident, which took place on Sept. 16.According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Yareni Rios-Gonzalez, 20, sustained serious injuries when the back of the patrol car was hit by a train near the town of Platteville, near Denver, just after 7:30 p.m.Rios-Gonzalez had been detained moments earlier after officers responded to what Fort Lupton police called a “high-risk vehicle stop” in a Facebook post.Edited bodycam and dashcam footage released by police shows officers approaching Rios-Gonzalez with at least one gun drawn, and ordering her to put her hands up and exit her car.In the video, Rios-Gonzalez can be heard asking officers multiple times why she is being arrested.
