Manchester United have been given the green light to trial a safe standing area for 1.500 supporters at Old Trafford. The Premier League giants have been keen to introduce modern rail seating and club representatives spent time in Glasgow on a fact-finding mission to see Celtic 's success in person.
The Hoops introduced 2.600 rail seats in 2016 and clubs across Britain have been in contact as they push for their own teams to follow suit.Safe standing is commonplace across much of Europe but remains an emotive subject in English football with campaigners citing the tragic 96 deaths during the Hillsborough disaster as reason why grounds should have seating only.
