Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

PIERS Morgan revealed British Airways' decision to make up to 12,000 staff redundant "breaks his heart" on today's Good Morning Britain.

The host, who is a regular flyer with the airline, said he hoped the government would step in to save the iconic brand as it continues to be hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: "I'm a huge admirer of the workforce there, and it breaks my heart that 12,000 of them are going to be losing their jobs unless something is done. "I believe the government should be intervening here, shouldn't they?" Last night BA's parent company IAG announced it is set to lose up to 12,000 workers.
