A once 'highly respected' doctor who sexually abused his female patients 'for his own gratification' has been locked up. Dr Wayne Sefton Davis, a GP in Salford, carried out the vile acts against two women during ‘invasive’ examinations on them during the 1990s and 2000s.
Following a trial, he was found unanimously guilty of sexually abusing the patients which spanned a 15-year period while he worked as a general practitioner.
Dr Davis, 67, denied all wrongdoing but was found guilty of indecent assault and assault by penetration. An investigation was launched back in May 2020 by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in GMP’s Salford district after two women came forward to speak out about Davis’ offending.
In May 2020, one of the women disclosed to officers that she had attended an appointment with Davis 14 years ago. She told officers that Davis sexually assaulted her during a medical examination before he told her that ‘he needed to teach her how to pleasure her husband’.
