Sir Chris Hoy took on a poignant role at Scotland's Six Nations showdown with Ireland at Murrayfield on Sunday, February 9.The six-time Olympic cycling legend revealed his terminal prostate cancer diagnosis last October, having been given a two to four-year prognosis by doctors in 2023.
A tumour was discovered in his shoulder, and further scans showed the primary cancer in his prostate had spread to his bones.
His openness about his condition has led to hundreds of thousands of men in the UK getting checked for prostate cancer.Tragically, just after disclosing his own health battle, it came to light that his wife Sarra was fighting her own fight, having been diagnosed with an aggressive form of MS the previous year.
