Brits are set to sizzle with forecasters claiming temperatures could shoot to a whopping 31C next month thanks to a so-called “European heat dome”.
The mercury is expected to climb to as high as 31C in June as the 2,000 mile-wide heat dome encases the continent, according to The Weather Outlook.
It will prove to be a massive U-turn for bookies who had a warm summer as unlikely now putting it as odds-on. Weather maps showed heat from mainland Europe pushing a 1,500 mile-wide “Atlantic cool blob” to Iceland.
The Met Office forecast model in April gave a warmer-than-average summer just a 20 to 40% chance for the west and 40 to 60% for the rest of the UK.
