Seven years ago, the soap world mourned the loss of Iain Rogerson, who was famed for his role as cleaner Harry Flagg in Coronation Street. The actor passed away at the age of 56 on 13 October 2017 after a suspected insulin overdose, as reported by the Daily Post.
An inquest after his tragic death revealed that Iain had been admitted to Wrexham Maelor hospital before his passing. His former agents, CV Actor Management, paid tribute to him on Twitter, now X, as they wrote: "It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our friend and client former @itvcorrie actor Iain Rogerson." Actor Trevor Dwyer-Lynch, who shared the screen with Iain on Corrie, also said: "Sad and gutted to her about Iain Rogerson RIP a gentleman both on and off set when we worked together @itvcorrie #iainrogerson." Iain starred as Harry Flagg on Coronation Street for two years before he left in 2004.
Iain's character famously landed a job at the Rovers Return over 20 years ago after commenting on how "unclean" it was. Harry left the show to travel around Europe, leaving scope for a potential return.
During his time on the cobbles, Harry had memorable moments including saving Preston King (played by Claude Close) from a heart attack and clashing with Frankie Baldwin (Debra Stephenson) over Underworld.
