Transport bosses have taken the decision to close the Subway in Glasgow due to the coronavirus crisis. The underground system is set to shut from Wednesday night at 9pm after the last train leaves the St Enoch station in the city centre.

The decision comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon ordered a lockdown of the country in an attempt to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

In Scotland, 16 people have passed away after testing positive for covid-19 while the UK total stands at 422. Despite the lockdown images were circulating online of people cramming onto underground trains in London and ScotRail carriages in Scotland.
