Child hit by bus airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A child has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a bus.Emergency services raced to Buxton Road in Stockport, near Manchester, after the alarm was raised at around 3.30pm on Monday.

An air ambulance was called to the scene and the child was airlifted to hospital.Police quickly closed off the road in both directions between Bramhall Lane and Nangreave Road.

The age of the child involved has not yet been confirmed by police, but officers confirmed the youngster sustained 'serious injuries' in the crash.Pictures shared by the Manchester Evening News showed the road cordoned off this evening.
