Glasgow's SEC will be transformed into an emergency NHS hospital to treat coronavirus victims. The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon made the announcement during her speech this afternoon.
The building will house 300 beds within a fortnight and will hold more than 1000 beds at full capacity. It will be a fully run NHS facility. The site, which normally hosts exhibitions, shows, conferences and gigs, was closed to the public earlier this month because of the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 strain. The Glasgow complex was identified as the best site for a temporary hospital due to it's central location, transportation links and size.
