The UK's coronavirus death toll has risen to 1,019 up from 759 the day before. The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases nationwide surged by 260 in 24 hours - a jump of more than third in the biggest daily leap yet, according to the latest official figures released today.
Saturday's latest official figures come after the UK saw what was its biggest day-on-day rise in coronavirus-related deaths yesterday.
The jump from 578 to 759 was an increase of 181. A total 14,579 had tested positive in the country by Friday, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson among the numbers.
