There has been a reduction in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19, according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).

In the week to last Saturday, there were 911 cases reported, down on the 982 cases reported the previous week. Most cases involved people aged 65 years or older.

A reduction was also seen in the number of hospitalisations, with 354 people hospitalised. There were two admissions to ICU and two deaths reported.

The number of official cases is regarded as an underestimate as only cases referred for testing by GPs or hospitals are counted.
