A batch of popular Greggs items that are sold at exclusively at Iceland have been deemed a "possible health risk" for some customers. The popular bakery firm issued a recall on Monday, January 20 for its two-pack of Steak Bakes.

A packaging error has led to some of the packs containing Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melts, which contain sulphites. An alert to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised that, since this ingredient is not declared on the packaging, the product poses a possible health risk for those with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites. The FSA alert shares that the Steak Bake packs affected by the Greggs recall are 280g in size and have a best before date of May 19, 2025.

As they are sold exclusively to Iceland, shoppers have been urged to not consume them, but to return them to store for a full refund.

Greggs has also contacted the relevant allergy support networks, alongside issuing point of sale notices that explain to customers why the product is being recalled and what to do if they have purchased the affected packs.
