The upcoming Netflix film Carry-On is already generating buzz, with fans touting it as the new 'Die Hard'. In 2021, Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners struck a deal with the streaming giant to produce several movies.
Carry-On is set to be the inaugural release from this partnership, penned by T. J. Fixman. Industry source Fastlane reports that the movie's budget is around $47 million.
The plot centres on Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who finds himself coerced by a traveller into allowing a perilous package through security for a Christmas Day flight.
Director Jaume Collet-Serra, known for his mastery in thrillers, helms Carry-On. Speaking to Tudum, Collet-Serra shared: "Contained environments force us to get to know the movie's characters very quickly and personally - we're immediately in the thick of the story with them, which creates a genuine investment in what's happening on-screen." He added, "It's also a very exciting visual challenge as a filmmaker to come up with creative ways to shoot every inch of a small space and try to make it look different and find new details of the world in each scene." Fans looking forward to this potential holiday classic will be able to stream Carry-On on Netflix starting December 13.
