People have been calling Greater Manchester Police to ask if they can go to work amid the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Chief Constable Ian Hopkins urged people to call the force, only in an absolute emergency.
The police chief spoke after Boris Johnson announced tough measures designed to tackle the spread of COVID-19, in a TV broadcast to the nation.
The Prime Minister said people should only leave home to exercise once a day, travel to work if 'absolutely necessary' and shop for essential items or for medical care.
