All recycling centres and tips in Greater Manchester have been closed after the government announced a UK-wide lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The centres will remain closed ‘until further notice’, Recycle for Greater Manchester announced. On Monday evening, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that strict measures would be introduced to curb the spread of coronavirus.

People will only be allowed to leave their homes for one form of exercise, to go shopping for essentials, to provide care for a vulnerable person or to get to and from work when it is necessary.

Anyone who is invited to see their friends of family they do not live with is urged to say no. It means that places like recycling centres will not remain open.
