An investigation is underway following the death of a Lancashire prisoner who was restrained in hospital after becoming 'agitated'.
Officers attended Royal Lancaster Infirmary on Saturday evening (January 25). Lancashire Police says officers were called out at 5.13pm to support prison officers, who were guarding a prisoner at the hospital.
The inmate had become 'unwell and agitated', according to police. Officers arrived at 5.20pm before supporting Prison Service workers in restraining the man.
By 5.27pm, his condition worsened. Police say he stopped breathing and became unconscious. He was given CPR, but he was sadly pronounced dead at 6.30pm.
