Emergency crews raced out to a Tameside nature reserve ready to rescue 'people in the water'. But as they arrived, they realised the call-out was a false alarm.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing multiple fire service and police vehicles head down Gibraltar Lane, in Denton, on Monday evening (August 13).
Crews were called out at 5.45pm following reports of youths jumping in the River Tame. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service says it sent out two fire engines, the technical response unit and a water incident unit after being called out to attend.
