Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. He is the first prime minister outside of the Indian National Congress to win two consecutive terms with a full majority and the second to complete five years in office after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the G-20 group of developed and developing countries to rework its definition of globalization which would focus on the collective interests of all people rather than balance the competing individual interests of a few.
In his intervention at the “Extraordinary Virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit" convened by Saudi Arabia to discuss the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the global economy, Modi also highlighted the need for reforming and empowering international organizations like the World Health Organisation to deal with pandemics like the Covid-19 so that it was effective in assisting countries and developing prescribing health protocols.
