A nurse has turned her back on the NHS and opened an alternative therapy shop instead - saying the unusual move is actually an easier way for her to help people.Sam Clair embarked on a career in mental health nursing as she wanted to help others after her own experiences with the NHS.Sam, who is autistic and confirmed ADHD, had previously been misdiagnosed and said her life totally changed when she was correctly diagnosed and prescribed the correct medication. But after graduating and going on placements she decided nursing wasn't for her.
And she now runs Portal Leith, a shop in the Edinburgh suburb which specialises in crystals, astrology and psychic readings. She explained: "My training had really boosted my confidence and self belief and I started to feel that being my own boss was the most realistic option for me."An opportunity came up towards the end of my degree to buy a small collection of really interesting, rare crystals.
I decided to set up a website, offering rare and unusual crystals along with online tarot readings.Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
