Can you be fined for refusing to send your child to school as lockdown eases?

From today, June 1, a phased reopening of schools will start, with Reception and Years 1 and 6 first back. Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that teachers and students will have to follow strict social distancing rules.

This includes limiting class sizes to 15 people in a bid to limit the risk of coronavirus. Mr Johnson said on Thursday: “Closing schools has deprived children of their education. “On Monday we will start to put this right in a safe way by starting to opening up nurseries and years one, and six in primary schools.” However, some parents and councils believe it is still too soon to send children back to school.
