Sir Ian McKellen has provided an encouraging update on his health following an incident which occurred earlier this week.The esteemed actor was performing in Player Kings at the Noël Coward Theatre in London on Monday (June 17) when he fell from the stage.
McKellen, 85, reportedly suffered a fractured wrist among other injuries, but has provided a hopeful update.In a statement issued to Deadline by McKellen’s publicist Clair Dobbs, the Lord Of The Rings star thanked his fans for “their kind messages and support”.He also confirmed that his “injuries have been diagnosed and treated by a series of experts, specialists and nurses working for the National Service.”He continued: “To them, of course, I am hugely indebted.
They have assured me that my recovery will be complete and speedy and I am looking forward to returning to work.”This evening’s (June 19) performance of Player Kings will be cancelled, according to Deadline, and a spokesperson for the production has said that the show will resume “as soon as he is ready”. “We will keep audiences updated regarding remaining performances this week,” they shared.“We are delighted that Ian is recovering well, and look forward to him returning to the production as soon as he is ready.
