A bus driver was rushed to hospital after he had a 'substance' thrown at him on a main road in Salford. The terrifying incident happened on Eccles Old Road at around 2.35pm yesterday afternoon (Monday).

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers initially were called to reports of an assault. The Manchester Evening News understands the victim involved in the incident was a bus driver.

The man - aged in his 20s - had a 'substance' hurled at him. READ NEXT: Rider rushed to hospital after smash between e-bike and car in early hours He was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Medics found the substance was not corrosive and thankfully, the driver has no lasting injuries, police added. No arrests have been made with an investigation now underway.
