Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan found himself getting emotional on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, as he continued to host the latest updates amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Susanna Reid's co-host was "moved" and visibly overwhelmed as he talked to those impacted by COVID-19 and shared the latest news on cases and those who have sadly died.

While cases in the UK have soared above 40,000, as of Tuesday there had been over 6,000 deaths. Piers spoke to one survivor of the virus, who had tragically lost his dad to the disease last month while his mother and sister were also hospitalised with COVID.
