Almost half of all staff at a hospital in southwest England have tested positive for coronavirus as the centre is put on lockdown.
In a statement this morning, Weston General Hospital announced it was closing to new patients following a recent spike in cases.
The hospital, in the Somerset beach resort of Weston Super Mare, was closed to all new patients - including A&E - from 8am this morning.
This afternoon, a message was reportedly sent out to local NHS staff warning them about a sharp rise in infected employees. The message - shared by an unnamed NHS worker - also reveals the number of Covid-19 patients at Weston General has risen by nearly 100% since the start of last week.
